“He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised
to life for our justification.” Romans 4:25
The truth is, all people are born imprisoned to sin. The Psalmist wrote, “Surely I have been a sinner from birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” (Psalm 51:5) From conception, we have a sentence hanging over our heads. But God has sent His Son to take our place; intervening on our behalf in order to free us from prison. We are declared “not guilty” because of Jesus’ sacrifice in our stead on the cross! Amen to that!
We are now in the season of Lent, a time to focus on our need for a Savior. It is a time focused on our humbly turning to a Holy God, and with a heart of repentance asking for forgiveness and TURNING—turning away from a life of sin to a life of obedience to your God.
We will continue having guest Pastors from the Michigan District Office on the weekends, during this season of Lent, after our Youth and Captive Free lead us in worship on February 20 & 21.
February 27 Pastor Hutter
February 28 Pastor Larsen
March 6 & 7 Pastor Walther
March 13, 20 & 27 Pastor Hutter

Because we are in the season of LENT—we will have mid-week services on Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m., with Dinners being provided each Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for a free-will donation.
The Sign of JONAH
A Series of Special Services for Lenten Mid-week
Jonah….for Lent? Sounds fishy, but it’s a natural fit. When the Jews asked Jesus for a sign, He said, “I will give you only the sign of Jonah.” After three days in the belly of the earth, Jesus rose with news of God’s prodigal grace. This series of special services explores the meaning of “The Sign of Jonah” as we follow Jonah on his journey...and Jesus on His way to the cross. Written by seminary professor Dr. Reed Lessing. Mid-week Worship will be led by Doug Wieneke.

CROP WALK 2010
This year’s Downriver Crop Walk is Sunday, April 25th at 1:30 p.m. and starts at Christ the Good Shepherd, in Lincoln Park. Beginning mid-March, look for sign-up sheets in the church narthex, Sunday bulletin or weekend Bible class. Sign-up to be a walker or a Sponsor/donor. Please consider making a donation of your time and/or treasure. Even a small money donation can do so much good to help others in need!!
As always, 25% of all funds raised in the Downriver Crop Walk will stay in the Downriver area, to assist designated local food pantries and soup kitchens. Remaining funds raised are used to assist the needy, in the U.S. and internationally, such as natural disaster victims and the hungry. People in Third World countries are taught skills to better their lives (building water wells, medical clinics, and schools, growing crops suited to their geography, and disease prevention).
Church World Service, the parent organization of Crop Walk, partners with reputable agencies like Lutheran World Relief. You may chose to designate Lutheran World Relief specifically when giving a donation to one of Trinity’s Crop Walkers.
Last year, Trinity raised $1,035 and was # 16 out of the 30 organizations who collected funds for the Downriver Crop Walk. There were 297 walkers with Trinity’s Allan Ave-Lallemant # 20 and Christie Wilczynski # 4 for walker fundraising! Helga Juchartz also participated as a member of Trinity’s Crop Walker team. Crop Walk needs YOU too! Sign up to be a walker, and share fellowship with other Christians as we all work together in service to our Lord. Let’s see if we can double Trinity’s amount of walkers for 2010!
Questions?? Contact Trinity’s Crop Walk recruiter, Christie Wilczynski, through the church office, 734-282-5877.
