Membership Information
All visitors are welcome here at Trinity. A person may remain a vistor/friend of Trinity for as long as they wish, a person is never obligated to become a member. If with prayer and consideration a person or family desires to be informed about membership, the following information explains our Visitor/New Member procedures.
Visitor
Within a couple days of a person visiting Trinity for a worship service, they will receive a letter of welcome. A visitor's attendence will be acknowledged with a phone call made after the second or third visit. When a visitor indicates on the guest card their interest in becoming a member, they will be added to a "potential membership list".
Potential Membership List
Each time a new cycle of adult information classes approches, each person on this list will receive a personal letter of invitation to these classes. In addition to the letter stated above, potential members will be personally notified of classes being offered concerning the Sacraments, Baptism and Holy Communion. This would provide them the opportunity to partake in the Sacraments at Trinity should they have reason to not become members, but are worshiping regularly.
Adult Information Membership Classes
These classes will be offered a minimum of twice a year. They will be 11 weeks in length. The first eight weeks will cover the six chief parts of Luther's Small Catechism. The final three weeks will be specific to Trinity including - but not limited to - an introduction to Trinity's governance, tour of the facility, a Bible Study on the four C's (Christ centered, community, communication, and caring), a chance to commit to membership, etc. Attendance in these classed will allow a person to become a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Any person who is not currently a member of an LCMS church will need to complete all 11 sessions for membership. Those persons coming to Trinity as a transfer from a fellow LCMS church will be required to attend the final three sessions of the 11 week class. On week 12, those who desire to commit to membership will be received into membership during a worship service and a reception/luncheon will follow. New members will be introduced to a current member(s), whom will serve as a new member sponsor. Sponsor(s) will stay connected with the new member for one year through various means; including church sponsored new member/sponsor gatherings.
